The Azil Bookshop is the first Slovenian academic bookstore to specialize in the literature of the humanities and social sciences. In keeping with the scientific research-based character of ZRC SAZU, the primary purpose of the Azil Bookshop is to supply high quality literature to an engaged readership. The selection of literature is aimed not only at academics but also at a professional readership seeking local and foreign specialized literature from the disciplines of philosophy, sociology, history, archeology, anthropology, art, ecology, political science, economics, gender studies, etc. Azil, as the in-house bookstore of Založba ZRC, has available for sale all of the books published by ZRC that are currently in print.
In autumn 2021, the Azil Bookshop moved back to its (new) old quarters where it all began in 2003. The spacious, bright, and comfortable rooms of the Azil Bookshop is directly accessible from the outside square and has an increased amount of shelve space than its previous quarters across the hall. Nevertheless, the shelves still seem to bend beneath the great weight of books and ideas hidden between their covers. The circle is now complete but the story of this small and extremely important bookstore on Novi trg is beginning all over again.
All books published by Založba ZRC and available in the digital bookstore can be purchased in the Azil Bookshop with a 10% discount.
